What the Coronavirus REALLY Exposes About America

Hi y’all!

Alex Reid here with your Monday roundup.

It’s hard to turn on the TV or jump on the internet without seeing something about the coronavirus.

Just when folks thought it might be a “hoax,” no one’s laughing anymore.

So you may want to pay attention… quickly and seriously.

By now, you’ve probably come across a lot of dos and don’ts…

I even shared a few basic ones with you last week.

But here are three things that the coronavirus scare really exposes about us as a country...

EXPOSURE #1: We Value Money Over Health.

Did you know that no U.S. federal laws require paid sick leave?

Some cities (including Washington, D.C.), as well as 10 states, have implemented mandates. But they pale in comparison to standards overseas.

So how does this tie in with the coronavirus?

Easy. If coronavirus takes over the country like some expect, it could mean…

Infected coronavirus patients may be still coming to work.

Your office…

Your nearby coffee shop…

Maybe the chef at your favorite restaurant…

Your Uber driver.

They could all have the virus.

Alvaro Balainez, an Uber and Lyft driver, shares:

If one of us gets sick, we will have no choice but to keep driving.

All of those possibilities mean one thing for you and your loved ones:

I’m not trying to make you paranoid, but the truth is the possibilities are endless.

You should know the facts and laws for yourself...

EXPOSURE #2: We Have ZERO Control Over What’s Happening Right Now.

Anyone who tells you a sure-fire way to cure or prevent it with 100% certainty is full of BULL.

If we knew how to contain the coronavirus, it would have NEVER made its way to the U.S. in the first place.

And yet many are scrambling, walking around in face masks, dodging Chinese food — clueless.

At this point, even the testing for the virus is under scrutiny…

Did you hear about the Wuhan evacuee who was released from quarantine in Texas?

She later tested positive for the virus.

CNN reports:

Hours before declaring a public health emergency, Mayor Ron Nirenberg called the patient's release a federal "screw-up" during a news conference and is requesting that Americans evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship to San Antonio continue to be held until retesting shows they're negative for the virus.

The government quarantined 122 people from the ship… and most are out.

This “screw-up” shows that the incubation period is longer than we thought.

Again, what we don’t know overcasts what we do.

EXPOSURE #3: We Need Stronger Mental Resolve.

Maybe it’s the media or just the evolving seriousness of the virus...

But folks are TRIGGERED.

Stress and anxiety are on the rise.

Folks fear for their lives, health, and safety.

But this spike in stress is now a concern, too.

Research shows that toxic stress is associated with illness.

Take care of yourself.

Don’t let your stress be the culprit of your sickness.

To your health,
