Does PPSD Threaten Your Longevity?
Dear Longevity Insider,
Anil Bajnath MD here with your Monday roundup.
Two London physicians have warned that up to 300,000 people in the United Kingdom face heart-related illnesses due to PPSD.
PPSD is short for “Post-Pandemic Stress Disorder.”
These physicians claim that those between the ages of 30 and 45 are at the highest risk. They also forecast a 4.5% rise in cardiovascular cases over the nation.
Mark Rayner, a former senior NHS (National Health Service) psychological therapist, shares what he currently sees unraveling in England.
“I’ve seen a big increase in thrombotic-related vascular conditions in my practice. Far younger patients are being admitted and requiring surgical and medical intervention than prior to the pandemic… I believe many of these cases are a direct result of the increased stress and anxiety levels caused by the effects of PPSD.”
“We also have evidence that some patients have died at home from conditions such as pulmonary embolism and myocardial infarction. I believe this is related to many people self-isolating at home with no contact with the outside world and dying without getting the help they needed.”

Rayner predicts that the NHS in England won’t be prepared to take care of the aftermath (and eventual fatalities) of long-term PPSD.
What does this mean for the rest of the world? America? Canada? Australia? The pandemic isn’t an isolated incident. At this point, every single person has been influenced by the COVID-19 era. Whether it be a change in social life, holidays, work life, or even a loss of family members.
Whatever the manifestation, COVID-19 has left its mark on our lives in some form or fashion. But we don’t have to sit on our hands and wait for the inevitable.
